STUVA is one of the reference exhibitions for the tunneling sector and for over 50 years has brought together thousands of international professionals to discuss the topics of underground construction.

This year the conference will take place in the Munich exhibition space on November, Wednesday 8 and Thursday 9, and will include a total of around 60 bilingual events, in English and German.

Over 200 international companies will present their products and services in the field of civil engineering, tunneling and tunnel operation on an area of approximately 7,000 square meters.

During the fair there will also be a moment for awarding prizes: the STUVA 2023 acknowledgment will be assigned to the most relevant technological innovations in the tunneling sector.

Tunneling sector: STUVA 2023’s topics

The tunneling industry represents a key part of civil engineering and construction and contributes significantly to the world’s infrastructure.

This complex and specialized discipline focuses on the design, construction and maintenance of underground tunnels, which play a crucial role in a wide range of applications: from the expansion of transport networks to the provision of essential services.

The underground industry requires the involvement of a considerable and diverse number of professionals with multidisciplinary skills, including engineering, geology, geotechnics and advanced construction technologies. When designing, for example, there are many factors to consider, such as the geology of the terrain, its structural needs and the applicable innovative construction technologies.

Engineers are therefore challenged to find suitable solutions to overcome the unique challenges of each project, depending on the ground conditions and objectives of the work.

At STUVA 2023, these will be the most discussed topics for discussion, with a necessary focus on the development of current underground construction and large international projects.

In the over 60 bilingual conferences planned, special civil engineering, mechanized excavations, ground freezing, complex underground connections, regulations and modernization will be discussed.
